Lydia Loves: Sephora Sale

If you didn't know, Sephora has an annual Holiday Savings Event around this time every year. If you didn't know, you now know, and I sincerely hope you never forget. Because ANYONE can take advantage of the sale through their Beauty Insider program, which has three tiers. If you have a skincare obsession, love make-up, or have a lot of haircare needs (like my mop on top), you can reach Rouge level pretty quickly, in my opinion. Not just in my opinion, actually, but rather in my experience... I've been Rouge for a hot minute.

Anyway, if you are Rouge, you get to shop the sale a few days before the next level: VIB. And VIB shoppers have a few days advantage on the Insider level shoppers. The level of discount also increases by level... Rouge receives 20% off, VIB receives 15% off, and Insider receives 10% off. Since the Insider level is free to join, really anyone can get in on the sale!

Personally, I use a lot of things available at Sephora. And the 20% Rouge level discount is one of the best discounts I have found for quite a few of these items. In addition to my everyday or frequently enough things I stocked up on during this sale, I pulled together a few new potential loves I'm going to try based on recommendations or curiosity (aka: good marketing), and finally some gift ideas! Because... 'tis the season, yea?

Everyday Loves

Sephora has a similar sale multiple times a year, so this is my winter/spring restock haul. So, I don't have my summer Supergoop! haul included here, for instance. Stay tuned for that, naturally.

  1. Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo: this is my everyday dry shampoo (Original Scent only for me). I only wash my hair a maximum of three times a week (scheduled around cardio days LOLZ), so a legit dry shampoo game is necessary.

  2. IGK First Class Dry Shampoo: like I said, a legit dry shampoo game is necessary. The difference between this and the Drybar dry shampoo is the intensity for me. This would suck my scalp bone dry if I used it everyday. BUT, this is CRITICAL day 3 dry shampoo. That's when Drybar no longer cuts it for me.

  3. Bumble and bumble Pret-a-Powder Post Workout Dry Shampoo Mist: I PROMISE this is the last dry shampoo. Or I should really say "dry" shampoo. This is not your typical powder spraying dry shampoo. This is actually a quick-drying mist that is made specifically for when your hair is a sweaty mess. Even on non-cardio days, my hair is sweaty, and I use this on days it's a little TOO sweaty to do my regular post workout hair refresh routine. Anyway, I was nearly out of all stock of all three of these, so I re-upped on each.

  4. Olaplex No.4P and No.5: while I promised I was done with the dry shampoo, I also ALWAYS take advantage of the Sephora sale to stock up on Olaplex. The new purple shampoo from my October Monthly Loves made its way back to my cart, as did more conditioner. I was pretty set on the rest of my Olaplex loves.

  5. Drybar Prep Rally Prime & Prep Detangler: I use this every time I wash my hair. It's my favorite detangler for my fine hair, because it does a great job detangling my hair without having to use a ton or weighing my hair down. And when I comb/brush through my hair, I don't lose a bunch from it being yanked out. It's an A+.

  6. Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Oil: I also really like their Dream Mask that you wear overnight, but I don't use that as often as I use the oil. My skin likes oils. It is meh about traditional, lotion-like moisturizers. It's hit or miss, and most moisturizers move my skin from "normal" to "combination" and make it kind of slick feeling and looking. So, I lean into oils/serums and use moisturizers sparingly. But anyway... this oil? GOOD.NESS. It's good, good. It absorbs quickly and instantly makes my skin very soft and smooth feeling. Obsessed.

  7. Chloé Roses De Chloé Rollerball: I used to buy perfume bottles like they were lattes. I don't know if it was the look of them or some weird dream I had of always having a "signature scent," but honestly... it was a problem. I never used them, and the money I spent was just... yikes on bikes. A friend of mine recommended I buy rollerballs instead, because they are less expensive and give me the level of perfume fragrance I like. I don't like wearing a ton of perfume, so I love the ability to control the scent level. And the little rollers are pretty cute! This is my personal favorite scent, but scent is personal AF. So, find one you like and give the rollerball a try!

  8. fresh Umbrian Clay Pore Purifying Face Mask: I don't have anything but amazing things to say about this mask. It's kind of pricey for how often I use it (once a week), so I try to get it on sale whenever I can. It will leave your face the most clean feeling it has ever felt, tightens up your pores, and brightens everything up. I follow this mask a lot of the time with a sheet mask, because I'm extra, but also because it can leave my skin a little tight/dry feeling (especially in the winter). Still love it.

  9. SK-II Pitera Facial Treatment Mask: These are expensive. But the benefit of this sale coming in November is I had a gift card from my birthday to spend, and these are really, really amazing. On the other side of the coin, some of my favorite sheet masks are from Target. But that's for another time!

  10. Supergoop! Daily Dose Vitamin C + SPF 40 Sunscreen Serum PA+++: if you aren't wearing sunscreen every single day (no matter your complexion... the sun doesn't care), you should be. And if you're 3-freaking-7 like I am, vitamin C is one of the top skincare recommendations out there for your "30-something" skin. (Aging... your aging skin... sorry.) This provides SPF 40 coverage with vitamin C in a serum formula, which... again... works better for my skin. It's great. Buy it.

Things I Hope I Love

Besides a healthy order of the things I use regularly, I also added these items to my cart based on recommendations from friends or things I saw somewhere/somehow and decided I needed (wanted...) to try.

  1. Sephora Favorites Sparkly Clean Makeup Set, because I don't wear a lot of make-up and was intrigued by this.

  2. Drybar Cure Liqueur Restorative Pre-Shampoo Treatment Oil, Strengthening Shampoo, and Strengthening Conditioner, because I love everything Drybar, wish I had a Drybar in my house, and hear this competes with Olaplex.

  3. Jo Malone London Cologne Discovery Set, because my husband likes cologne but also doesn't have a favorite scent. This is technically a unisex set, and I think some scents sound more my speed than his, but it was a good deal for Jo Malone London!

  4. ILIA Lip Wrap Overnight Treatment, because I love an overnight lip mask and haven't tried this highly rated (and recommended by a friend!) treatment.

  5. IGK Crybaby Anti-Frizz Smoothing Serum, because a friend of mine said it was a gamechanger and backed it up with photo evidence... I was so sold I bought two.

Gift Sets Someone is Sure to Love

Fun fact, I love a good gift set. KEYWORD being good. For instance, the IGK dry shampoo I use? I bought the gift set during this sale, because it came with a free mini bottle of it. THAT IS A GOOD DEAL. That is a good gift set! If you have never tried La Mer, but are DYING to see what the hype is all about, try one of the gift sets that has The Moisturizing Soft Cream in it. A little goes a long way with that cream (it really is excellent), and depending on the set, you could get a REALLY good deal. So, here are some gift sets I did not buy during this sale (yet... I still have time, after all), but have my eye on.

  1. ILIA Mini The Smalls Wonder Set

  2. First Aid Beauty Your Future Looks FAB Gift Set

  3. Sephora Favorites POP—Beauty For Everyone

  4. Maison Margiela 'REPLICA' Discovery Set (If this was in stock, I would have purchased it with my most recent order as a gift for my husband.)

  5. Origins MERRY MASKS Our 5 Best Mask Minis (If this was in stock, I would have purchased it with my most recent order as a gift for myself.)

There we have it. I will probably buy more before the sale ends... it's who I am. If I find something new I love, I will be sure to update this post. Did you shop the Sephora sale? Are you planning on it? What's in your cart?
